| Description |
We are one of the few medical practice management consulting firms in the nation having been cumulatively accepted by the AMA, AAFP, ACP, AAO and CAFP into their consultant networks for their members.
Faculty at AAFP, AAD, AAAAI, AOA, NAHC, NSCHBC. Member MGMA, NSCHBC, CABB, IBA. Medical Economics magazine editorial consultant. Hundreds of references are available, and we have worked successfully with most specialties of practice.
We are available on an hourly or monthly basis depending on your needs. Some sample services include:
ASSOCIATE RECRUITMENT PREPARATION, helping a solo physician or group with evaluating/confirming the need for an associate, and preparing them for the recruitment process to increase the chances of successful recruitment. Typical Time: 2-4 hours on site
ASSOCIATE EVALUATION EXERCISE, consisting of an intensive session with all doctors, prior to associate employment, to discuss difficult and personal issues in order to better acquaint them with each other's beliefs, practice styles, personalities, and behavior under stress. This exercise greatly improves the odds of a good match between the existing doctor(s) and the new associate. Typical Time 3-4 hours including on-site and pre-meeting preparation.
PRACTICE SALE SUPPORT, meeting with both the buyer and seller together to facilitate decision-making on all the details of transitioning the practice from one to the other, including the terms of sale for the agreement to be drawn by an attorney. This reduces misunderstandings, unresolved issues and attorney fees. Broker license #00767129. Typical Time: 2-4 hours on site
PRACTICE START-UP ONE-DAY WORKSHOP is ideally performed at least two months in advance of the start date. It involves an intensive full-day meeting with the doctor(s) making as many decisions as possible regarding practice start-up and operations. Templates are provided for a business plan, a personnel policies handbook, office brochure, and most forms needed to run the practice. A checklist and calendar of activities is prepared. The doctor is referred to pre-screened specialists for fee-setting, superbill creation, tax and legal requirements. A practice budget is established using reference data, financial policies determined, often a computer or billing service selected, and all physician questions answered. Typical Time: 8-10 hours on site, excluding office location selection & evaluation visits.
PRACTICE START-UP OR TAKE-OVER IMPLEMENTATION SUPPORT, occurs after the Start-Up Workshop or Practice Sale and includes weekly meetings with doctor and staff to make sure the practice is started and run correctly. Meetings continue until two clean month-end financial reports are generated, greatly reducing chances of failure. This also provides insurance to the seller of a practice that the new doctor will continue to be successful until pay-off of the seller financing. Typical Time: 3-4 months on retainer
GROUP FORMATION/MERGER ONE-DAY WORKSHOP, meeting with all physicians involved to (recommend and) decide on the calendar, structure, governance, physician compensation formulas, staffing, location, budget, accounting and other operational issues of the group to be formed. Physicians leave with a very good, concrete & detailed idea of what the new group will be like, whether they personally should join, and a written plan of action. Typical Time: 8-12 hours on site Highly Recommended Elective, pre-meeting data-gathering and phone-interview with each physician to solicit concerns. Provide a written report data-sharing at the One-Day Workshop. Typical Time: 3-6 hours per practice
GROUP FORMATION IMPLEMENTATION, assists doctors via weekly meetings after the Workshop to successfully complete the merger. Typical Time: 4-8 months, recommended to continue until two clean month-end financial reports have been generated post-merger. Fee is by retainer. Elective, work with individual doctors needing practice clean-up pre-merger, with weekly meetings, month-by-month as needed. Typical Time: 1-2 months on retainer.
PRACTICE SURVEY, the business equivalent of a complete history & physical, includes evaluating the practice from top to bottom to identify or diagnose problems, areas needing improvement or opportunities for growth. Surveys usually include an area of special attention, such as staffing problems, lack of profitability, administrator performance, or planned relocation to accommodate additional associates. A Survey is often very valuable prior to a new administrator being recruited into a group practice. Data is requested in advance, all doctors and key staff are interviewed, physicians are debriefed at a meeting at the end, and a written checklist of problems found is provided. Typical Time: 8-12 hours for up to 5 doctors in a group Highly Recommended Elective, is a written report on findings and recommendations that can be used to implement changes over the next year and retained as an historical baseline. Typical Time: 8 hours
PRACTICE APPRAISAL VALUATION, offering original valuations and 2nd opinions for practice purchase, sale, merger, litigation, estate etc. Short "letter reports" and long "formal reports" available. Member Institute of Business Appraisers. Typical Time: 5-50 hours.
